KIGALI / A TASTE OF CHINESE CULTURE

Our first workshop in Kigali

At EYAMYA Chinese restaurant, children joined EZFUN to make traditional large and small wontons, then gathered to enjoy the food they had made themselves.

Kigali · EYAMYAOur first workshopChinese food culture

Our first workshop in Kigali began with a shared table and a simple invitation to try. At EYAMYA, making wontons brought children into contact with Chinese food culture through watching, working with their hands and spending time together.

01 / THE EXPERIENCE

A table to gather around

Children gathered around the workshop table to learn what they would be making. Wrappers and filling offered a practical starting point: something to look at, hold and shape. Demonstrations and conversation helped turn an unfamiliar task into an activity everyone could join.

An instructor welcomes the children gathered around the workshop table.
02 / THE EXPERIENCE

From wrapper to wonton

The children tried their hands at both traditional large wontons and small wontons. Placing filling, bringing the edges together and shaping each piece made the process something they could follow step by step. With guidance close by, each attempt was a chance to practise and see how a wonton takes shape.

A spoonful of filling is placed onto a wonton wrapper held in one hand.
03 / THE EXPERIENCE

The pleasure of sharing

When the wontons were ready, the children tasted what they had made. The shared meal connected the work of their hands with the food in their bowls. Making and eating together gave this first gathering a warm, direct way to experience Chinese food culture in Kigali.

Bowls of prepared wontons are served on the table.
