A journey shaped by a musician’s creative work, bringing encounters across Yunnan together in a CD and an illustrated travel journal.

A musician travelled and documented the experience, bringing its sounds and images into a CD and an illustrated journal. Time spent with a place became a finished creative work.

01 / THE EXPERIENCE

From open landscapes to live music

The journey followed a musician’s creative interests. Mountains, lakes and flower fields offered one view of Yunnan; cafés, shelves of records and books, and live performances offered another. Moving between these settings supplied the material for the music and visual work that followed.

Making room for encounters

From singing beside a mountain lake to playing guitars together in a café, music became part of the journey itself. The camera lingered on hands, faces and the light on stage. Sound, photographs and writing became complementary ways of recording the experience.

Giving the journey a lasting form

The work continued at the editing and production table. Images were selected, words and pictures laid out, and printed pages assembled into a journal; the music took physical form on CD. Together, the disc, illustrations and pages made the journey something to hold, listen to and revisit.
